Teeth Whitening (Opalescence)

Profesionalno izbjeljivanje zubi: postupak u ordinaciji

Izbjeljivanje zubi u ordinaciji

Pacijentica je željela izbijeliti zube i time im vratiti zdrav i lijep izgled, a istovremeno ih zaštititi zdravstvenim učincima Opalescence Boost gela. To smo joj omogućili u nekoliko jednostavnih koraka:

1. korak

Prilikom pregleda smo definirali trenutačnu boju pacijentičinih zubi kako bi zahvat bio učinkovit i uspješan, a rezultati trajniji i efektniji

2. korak

Na zube pacijentice nježno smo nanijeli Opalescence Boost gel, a zoom lampom pojačali njegovo djelovanje

3. korak

Pacijentica udobno sjedi u stomatološkom stolcu dok Opalescence Boost gel djeluje na njezinim zubima

4. korak

Sat vremena kasnije, pacijentica je zadovoljna uspješnim zahvatom i novom bjelinom svojih zubi

We are all familiar with the desire for a bright, white smile, and modern dental treatments offer several effective options to achieve this goal. The two most commonly used methods are at-home teeth whitening and professional in-office teeth whitening. Both approaches have their advantages and limitations, and understanding the differences between them is key to making an informed decision.

How to Whiten Teeth?

At-Home Teeth Whitening

At-home teeth whitening usually involves the use of commercial whitening toothpastes, strips, or home kits containing bleaching agents such as hydrogen peroxide. These products are often available over the counter and are designed for easy use at home. However, there are some drawbacks. Many of these products contain abrasive substances that can damage tooth enamel, cause tooth sensitivity, and, over time, negatively affect overall dental health. It is recommended to consult your dentist so they can advise you on the safest toothpaste or product for at-home whitening.

Professional In-Office Teeth Whitening

Professional teeth whitening, on the other hand, is performed by a dentist using stronger whitening agents and advanced technologies such as Zoom lamps or Opalescence gel. This treatment typically takes about one hour, and results are visible immediately. The dentist can tailor the treatment to each patient’s individual needs, ensuring both safety and effectiveness. In addition, the entire procedure is closely monitored, minimizing the risk of side effects.

Međutim, postoje i neki nedostaci.

Professional In-Office Teeth Whitening

What Is Opalescence Gel?

Opalescence teeth whitening involves the application of a high-quality gel containing peroxide as the active ingredient, most commonly in the form of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. This gel penetrates deep into the tooth enamel and dentin, breaking down stains and discoloration caused by food, beverages, or smoking. Opalescence gel is available in different concentrations, allowing the dentist to select the most suitable option for each individual patient.

What Is a Zoom Lamp?

The Zoom lamp is a specialized device used to accelerate the whitening process. It emits a light that activates the Opalescence gel, enhancing its effectiveness and reducing treatment time. With the help of a Zoom lamp, the whitening procedure can take as little as 45 minutes, making it a very convenient option for busy individuals.

The Whitening Process

  1. Preparation: Before starting the treatment, the dentist will examine your teeth and gums to ensure that you are a suitable candidate for teeth whitening. Prior to whitening, it is necessary to remove hardened dental deposits through professional teeth cleaning and air polishing.profesionalnim čišćenjem zuba i pjeskarenjem.

  2. Gel Application: After preparation, the dentist applies Opalescence gel to the teeth, carefully covering all surfaces you wish to whiten.

  3. Zoom Lamp Activation: Once the gel is applied, a Zoom lamp is positioned above the teeth. The light activates the gel, significantly accelerating the whitening process.

  4. Monitoring and Completion:  Each session lasts approximately 15 minutes, during which the dentist can monitor progress to achieve the desired shade. After the procedure is completed, the gel is removed and the teeth are thoroughly rinsed.

Advantages of In-Office Teeth Whitening

  • Fast results: Unlike at-home treatments, results are visible immediately after the first session.

  • Safety: The dentist supervises the entire procedure, ensuring that the whitening process is both safe and effective.

  • Personalized treatment: The dentist can adjust the treatment according to the specific needs of each patient.

  • Long-lasting results: With proper care, whitening results can last from several months to several years.

After teeth whitening, your dentist will provide guidance on proper oral care to help maintain the achieved whiteness. It is recommended to avoid foods and drinks that may cause staining—such as coffee, red wine, or dark chocolate—for one week after the treatment.
