GENERAL DENTISTRY
General dentistry deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of a wide range of diseases and conditions of the oral cavity. It is the foundational dental practice that encompasses various procedures and treatments aimed at maintaining oral health.
PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY:
Regular check-ups: Periodic examinations (usually every 6 months) to detect and prevent potential issues. Professional cleaning: Removal of tartar and plaque that cannot be eliminated by regular brushing. Fluoridation: Application of fluoride to strengthen teeth and prevent cavities. Sealants: Application of a protective layer on the chewing surfaces of back teeth to prevent cavity development.
RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY:
Fillings: Repairing teeth damaged by cavities or minor fractures using amalgam or composite fillings. Crowns and bridges: ORestoring significantly damaged teeth and replacing missing teeth. Inlays, onlays, overlays: Ceramic fillings that are less invasive than crowns but provide a higher quality solution than fillings.
ENDODONTICS (ROOT CANAL TREATMENT):
Pulp treatment: Removal of infected or damaged pulp of the tooth and filling the root canals to preserve the tooth.
Advantages of regular dental visits:
- Early diagnosis: Detecting dental problems at an early stage allows for simpler and less invasive treatments.
- Prevention: Regular examinations and professional cleanings help prevent cavities, gum disease, and other oral issues.
- Maintaining oral health: Regular care helps keep teeth and gums healthy throughout life.
- Aesthetic appearance: Professional whitening treatments and aesthetic corrections enhance the smile’s appearance.
- Overall health: Oral health is linked to general health, and regular visits to the dentist can help maintain overall wellness.
